February brings new partnership with The Bowery Mission NYC

Up and Running Again is excited to announce a new partnership with the Bowery Mission Women’s Center in Harlem, New York City. Founded in the 1870s, The Bowery Mission is the oldest rescue mission in the United States. With six campuses and multiple programs available throughout New York City, The Bowery Mission plays a vital role in caring for the needs of unhoused, addicted, abused, and disadvantaged individuals in New York.
We are blown away by God’s orchestration of this new program! What started with a connection at the Citygate Conference (a national conference for rescue missions that Up and Running Again attends each year) last June has grown into this exciting partnership. When Up and Running Again Executive Director, Greg Clarke, first visited The Bowery Mission in the fall of 2025, the residents were so eager to try our running program that they asked to go for a run right then and there. A few months later, in late February of 2026, the day training was supposed to begin, a record breaking blizzard tore across the North East making the first training impossible. But the following day, when the snow stopped, eager volunteers and runners braved the freezing temperatures to complete their first training – a slow steady walk on the still icy sidewalks.

The Bowery Mission Up and Running Again team is preparing for the Soul Ryeders half marathon on May 17, 2026. We are eager to see God work in the lives of each one of these New York City runners as they prove to themselves that they are capable of more than they ever thought possible.
