Esmerelda is No Longer Hiding

I’ve been to nearly both ends of our country and this week both ends of California as God is opening doors for new Up And Running Again programs. I have heard so many amazing stories I would love to share with you all but one story has stuck with me the most.  

This is my friend “Esmerelda”. She is an extremely gifted runner. Not because she is fast or has perfect biomechanics, it’s how she has taken up a love for running and a love for her bible. Running has helped her overcome a very very dark past that started with sexual abuse as a child and ended in a high speed car chase and crash with a police K9 dragging her out of her hiding place. She’s no longer hiding and her perfection is in her Savior. 

Esmeralda, during her Up And Running Again training, ran EVERY single training run with her bible. She also ran her first half marathon with her bible. Something I have never witnessed an Up And Running Again athlete do before. Congratulations Esmeralda on your race! Well done!
