In Memory- Mr. Edward Byng

Edward Byng, one of our URA family members has fought the good fight and finished his race here on earth strong. Mr. Byng passed away February 15, 2014 after a hard fought battle with cancer. Ed was a part of the Nova Academy chapter of URA. His two younger children Ashley and Joshua Byng both participated in the Long Beach 1/2 marathon. Josh also participated in the OC 1/2 marathon.
It was a special blessing at the banquet to acknowledge both of his children’s hard work and dedication over the training season. I had to recognize Mr. Byng as well for his servanthood and dedication not only to his children but to all the students at Nova. He was a man that The Lord used mightily for His kingdom. The runners from the Nova group will always hold a special place in their heart for Mr. Byng.
I remember we had to meet at the OC Fairgrounds at dark o’clock for the OC 1/2 marathon. Mr. Byng had been battling cancer but that did not stop him from coming. My mom was participating in the 5k at the OC. She drove with us and didn’t have her car. Mr. Byng being the gentleman that he was offered for her to wait in his vehicle. He made sure my mom was safe until her race. Mr. Byng was a blessing wherever he went. A man who loved Jesus and who loved his neighbors.
Mr. Ed Byng will always be remembered for his kindness and servants heart. He crossed the finish line into the arms of Jesus. ” Well done my good and faithful servant, well done.”- Jesus
